we have numbers of CNC milling machine ,we need disk spring for clamping force in spindle ,disk springs are out of standard size 50*25.4*4.5 ,after several years of working with the machine clamping force decreased, so we started to making new disk spring , we used from rebar steel 1.8159 ,
Then we did the forming,after that we did heat treatment , hardness: 46 HRC
but after 10 days, 2/3 parts broke.
We think the problem is from treatment

If the hardness after heat treatment is 46HRC, it is basically within a range of acceptable hardness.
However, in case you measure the hardness of the broken springs and it deviates greatly from 46HRC, then heat treatment can be the cause.
However, it is not possible to conclude that heat treatment is the cause based only on the information and photos provided.
The following are the causes of breakage of disc springs, please use them as a guideline.
・A load exceeding the assumption is applied to the springs.
・The spring has a stroke that exceeds expectations.
・The springs are used beyond the expected lifespan
・It is used up to solid-height
・The temperature around the springs is high.
・The spring is corroded.
・There is a crack in the springs.
・The surface of the spring is too coarse.
・Hydrogen embrittlement due to coating treatment and the atmosphere around the spring
・Heat treatment
・Corrosion or surface coarseness of the springs due to the influence of the surface condition and material of the parts that the disc springs are in contact with
・Shot peening if it was performed
