Question Richard Petty 2021/10/27(Wed) 1:43
I am looking to produce a spring and am a bit confused about which material to use and whether it would require annealing afterward. At first I was thinking of SUS304-CSP but I think it is already annealed and would not form well. Now I’m thinking forming SUS304-CS and then low temperature annealing afterward. Is that correct?

Dear Richard,
Thank you for your question!
We think that there is no problem if we apply the same manufacturing process with CS material.
The difference between CS material and CSP material is whether or not the hardening process by cold rolling is specified (by the tempering symbol) or not, and both materials are cold-rolled.
Therefore, it is thought that the shape springs from both materials will change due to the low-temperature annealing process after forming, but it is not clear how much the change will differ.
In addition, CS material is inferior in strength to CSP material, so maybe the range of use of springs will be narrower.
We hope this helps!
