Question A. Novo-Gradac

Hello:
The “Spring Design” section of your website is excellent! It is well written, has good illustrations, and is clear and concise. Thank you for this resource. I have a question about section 1-9-1 in Flat Springs. Formula 23 looks odd to me. I would like to confirm that there is not an error. Formula 23 includes “BL – LcosB – cosB + 0.25cosB +0.75”. It seems odd to me that this was not written as “BL -LcosB -0.75cosB +0.75”. I am worried that perhaps there is something missing that would make the middle two terms different from one another. I would like to confirm that Formula 23 is correct.

If you can recommend other sources with more information about the type of spring discussed in section Flat Springs 1-9-1, I would appreciate it very much.

Thank you for any help you may provide.

Answer Tokai Spring

Dear Ms. Anne,

Thank you very much for your question and our sincere apologies for the late reply.
We checked the original documents and it seems that the formula we put on our page is correct. Although, we could not find any further explanation for your question and we intend to keep searching on other sources too.

Regarding the materials for the spring in section 1-9-1, what kind of information do you need? We can help search for the relevant information and send it to you later because all the documents we have are in Japanese.

We look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
Tokai Spring’s Support Team
