Question Spring Newbie 2019/3/18(Mon) 8:51
Hello.
We are estimating the lifespan of extension coil springs. I would like to estimate more than 1,500,000 times from the usage conditions, but I can only estimate up to 10 million times from the “fatigue strength diagram” from JIS B2704.
When plotted on the fatigue diagram, it is well below the 10 million times line, so I would like to try to estimate if the springs can be used more than 1,500,000 times by combining information such as track records and experience. Is this estimation method possible?
If possible, we would appreciate it if you could provide us with some track records or knowledge from experienced engineers.

Spring Newbie, thank you for posting!
Based on the 10 million times line shown in the fatigue strength diagram of JIS B2704, if it is below that, the estimated service life maybe 10 million times or more, but considering the spring specifications and usage environment, etc. is needed here.
Since there is no official service life guarantee diagram, it is difficult to give out an exact answer. The diagram described in JIS is only an estimate, so if you want to have a guaranteed life of 1,500,000 times or more, please carry experiments and calculate it. We recommend that you consult the terms and conditions with the end-user.
We are happy to answer any inquiries regarding technology, specifications, materials, etc. Please feel free to ask.
