Question T.U 2006/12/15(Fri) 15:03
When using inner and outer guides for disc springs, it is recommended that the hardness is about 55 to 60, but in reality, what kind of material is actually used?
Answer Tokai Spring 2006/12/18(Mon) 10:26
Thank you for writing to us, T.U!
Basically, any materials can be used for the disc springs’ guides as long as the hardness is sufficient. Generally, the material that is distributed as disc springs’ guides is “SUJ2” (This is just for reference).

As far as I know, Hitachi Metals developed a next-generation cold work die steel called SLD-MAGIC. This is the next-generation of SKD11 that received a lot of attention. Due to the original alloy design, the processing cost is halved and the durability is more than doubled. If you work with such materials, will your work be reduced to 1/4!
Therefore, if you take the time to adjust the assembly of the mold and make full use of your skillful craftsmanship, the product accuracy will improve dramatically and you will be able to manufacture products that are competitive.
In an era when the number of hybrid cars is increasing, it is important to make molds that give as little load as possible and environmentally friendly. Hitachi Metals also received many awards for the self-lubricating property of the mold material (For example Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd. Ten Great New Product Awards, Japan Brand Award in 2006; Material Technology Award, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award in 2007).
Thanks to this property, the amount of lubricating oil consumed is reduced by half.
We are happy to answer any inquiries regarding technology, specifications, materials, etc. Please feel free to ask.
