Question Spring Newbie 2017/7/10(Mon) 11:57
Nice to meet you.
I had a problem with the extension spring, so I post my question here. I have read the question about the amount of deflection due to the weight of the extension coil spring on 7th May 2004 in this Forum. I myself also need to fix the extension springs sideways at both ends and calculate the amount of deflection due to their own weight at that time. I’m sorry for the rudimentary question, but I would appreciate it if you could tell me the calculation method.

Spring Newbie, thank you for posting!
Regarding the deflection due to the weight of the extension coil spring, as mentioned in that post in 2004, it is thought that it is better to use the spring based on the calculation of the spring’s tension or initial tension!
I will attach a reference material about the lateral rigidity of the coil spring here for your reference! I hope you find it helpful.
