Question Kazuhiko

Rust has occurred on a part of the spring (SUS631J-WPC) where it comes into contact with water. Is SUS631J-WPC easy to rust? If you have a spring material that is hard to rust, could you please let me know?

Answer Tokai Spring

Thank you for your inquiry!

Generally, SUS631J1-WPC is a material that is less likely to rust than piano wires and oil-tempered wires. However, it depends on the usage environment, so if you find that SUS631J1-WPC rusts, why not try SUS316-WPA? (SUS316-WPA has better corrosion resistance than SUS631J1-WPC.)

Answer Kazuhiko

Thank you for your prompt reply. I just want to confirm that is it okay to assume that rust is less likely to occur in the order of SUS631 → SUS304 → SUS316? I am confused and can not decide whether to use SUS304 or SUS316.

Answer Tokai Spring

The order is right. Rust is less likely to occur in the order of SUS631J1-WPC → SUS304-WPB → SUS316-WPA. Of the above, SUS316-WPA is the most resistant to rust.
