Question Spring Newbie

I would like to ask you about the operating temperature range of general compression springs. I know that stainless steel SUS304 works well in the extremely low-temperature range, but how about the commonly used spring steel-SUP10? I especially want to know the low-temperature range of it.

*SUP10(EQ to 6150 by ASTM, 50CrV4 by DIN, 51CrV4 by ISO)

Answer Tokai Spring

Spring Newbie, thank you for your post!

Regarding steel materials for springs (SUP10), we would recommend you to use the temperature range that can be used for spring of less than 200°C; for low-temperature environments: -50 to 60°C. The stress evaluation also changes according to the shape of the spring and the specifications.

If you have any problems with the design, please feel free to contact us here !!!

Answer Spring Newbie

I would like to ask you about the operating temperature range of general compression springs. What is the upper and lower limit of the operating temperature for stainless steel SUS304?

Answer Tokai Spring

Thank you for your contribution.
For general compression springs from stainless steel SUS304, the upper limit of the operating temperature is about 250 ° C and the lower limit is about -150°C. Both the upper and lower limits must be set low during use.
