Question Spring Newbie 2018/7/27(Fri) 18:21
Please tell me about the initial tension. Tempering extension springs reduces the initial tension, but I do not know how much it will decrease with the following materials and conditions.
At what rate does the initial tension decrease when an SWP-B extension spring (φ1.8) is tempered at 320°C for 10 minutes?

Dear Spring Newbie, after forming an extension spring with initial tension applied, residual stress is released and the initial tension is decreased by low-temperature annealing, but the degree of decrease depends on the shape of the spring and the initial tension at the time of coiling.
It is difficult to explain this clearly because they are different in each case. For your reference, we have attached a document showing the range of initial tension obtained by the spring index! When tempering, I think it is good to use the middle to lower limit of the shaded area in the material as a reference.
