Question Spring Newbie 2008/4/23(Wed) 11:15
Are Young’s modulus and tensile strength different between SUS304 1/2H and SUS304 3/4H?
Answer Tokai Spring 2008/4/24(Thu) 13:12
Thank you for writing to us, Spring Newbie!
The Young’s modulus of SUS304-CSP 1/2H and SUS304-CSP 3/4H is the same, which is 186000N/mm^2.
However, the tensile strength is different for each.
Tensile strength of stainless steel strip for springs (JIS G4313) SUS304-CSP 1/2H: 780N/mm^2 or more;
SUS304-CSP 3/4H: 930N/mm^2 or more.

what does CSP stand for?
Difference between SUS304-3/4H vs SUS304-CSP 3/4H?

Dear BSH,
Thank you for your question!
CSP the symbol of the material in JIS G 4313 and it stands for Cold-rolled stainless steel strip for springs.
Regarding the difference between SUS304-3/4H and SUS304-CSP 3/4H, 3/4H and H are symbols that indicate the differences in strength and hardness of the materials depending on the rolling ratio in the work hardening.
Since the symbol of stainless steel is SUS, we have materials such as SUS304-CSP 3/4H, H, etc.
Because stainless steel does not have strength unless it is cold-rolled, the strength of these materials is as followed: SUS304-3/4H → SUS304-CSP 3/4H.
There are also materials such as S55C-CSP, SK85-CSP, etc.
