Hello, I have a question.
Since the driveshaft of my radio-controlled car has continued to break, I am thinking of using SUS304WPB material for the shaft. I am aiming for load distribution by the torsion effect.
Since both ends of the driveshaft have a special shape, I would like to cut the end and weld it to the spring wire. The welding method is TIG method, and I plan to use SUS308 material as the filler rod.
So the question is, is it OK to think that welding SUS304WPB is the same as that of normal SUS304? The welded part takes a lot of heat, but will it lose its toughness when annealed?

Normally, welding is not preferable for spring steels. When the welding heat is applied, that part of the spring becomes brittle. Generally, spring makers do not weld the springs.
So, be careful of high heat on the spring!
